2025 Year in Review
Written by President Dave Wasiolek
For the Trust this was the largest year ever for both donations received as well as support provided to the middle Tennessee soccer community. Below is a sample of the activities the Trust supported in 2025.
During the year the Trust outfitted the Haywood Elementary School interscholastic soccer team including taking over providing jerseys. The Bears, led by coach Kevin Schaff and inspired by their new professional look, had a very strong season before finally bowing out in the playoffs.
The Trust also provided support to Nashville’s robust semi-pro soccer community by providing financial assistance to the Nashville Rhythm, a perennial powerhouse in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL). The Rhythm proved to be one of the best in the league again this year but unfortunately fell to their longtime rival Chattanooga in the Southeast Conference Championships. The Trust also stepped up to champion the Nashville Dream men’s teams in both the UPSL and NISA. While the Dream, in their first year, was not as successful as the Rhythm they still finished with a respectable record and provided opportunities for highly skilled players to hone their craft against outstanding competition.
As spring rolled into summer the Trust worked with NSC to recognize and reward our brave men and women in the armed forces by funding free tickets to NSC games for these brave patriots. In addition, the Trust held a giveaway of: NSC tickets, an NSC player signed mini-ball and vintage NFC gear which were won by our loyal NSC and Supporters Trust fans, Scott Cochran, Kevin Sharkey, and Steve Kraft.
Also, for the 6th year in a row the Trust was a major sponsor of Kickin’ It 615. This organization of selfless individuals works tirelessly to give kids the opportunity to play our beautiful game without regard to cost. Something they can do because of generous partners like the Trust, NSC, TMC, the Roadies and others. One benefit of the Trust’s faithfulness to Kickin’ It is that after many years of frustration finishing second, a team from the Trust finally won Kickin’ Its annual footgolf tournament .
Then as the glow of NSC’s Open Cup win wafted over the fans and year headed into the holiday season, the Trust lent a hand to help the Murfreesboro Liverpool Supporters Group and Barfield Elementary in their annual Food and Clothing Drive. This drive provides invaluable assistance to those in our community who just need a little hand up in their time of struggles particularly during the holidays.
But now our 2025 tale is in the rear-view mirror. The Trust’s record giving was only possible because of the generous support from each of you. Because of that support and smart management of the resources that have been entrusted to it, the Trust’s financial condition is strong and growing and we look forward to continuing to expand on our mission “ To promote local soccer and the community welfare” for years to come.
I hope all of you had a great holiday season and I pray that each of you have a happy and fruitful 2026.
Go NSC!
